FREE EYE CAMP
Vision is the greatest gift given by God to mankind. Through vision we can see the whole world and enjoy its beauty. But when people loose their vision, they loose the blessing of enjoying the world’s beauty that God created. They become paralyzed, as they have to depend on others for all their essential daily needs. Our medical mission is very concerned about helping those who need special eye care and who have lost their vision. There are three groups of people who need special eye care to improve, retain and regain their sights. We conduct periodical free eye camps to screen their visual problem and to treat other eye problems.
For children vitamin deficiency is the main problem, which affects their eyesight. So in our eye camps we correct the vitamin deficiencies in children by treating them with needed vitamins. For the middle aged people error in refraction is the major problem, which affects their carrier and daily life.
People with refractory error are screened and spectacles are provided to correct the eyesight error. For the elderly people cataracts are the main problem, which affects their vision. And they too as they grow older have to depend on others for their day-to-day activity. Through our camps we select elderly people, especially the poor widows, who are not able to afford for their cataract surgery.
In every eye camp we select nearly 30 people for cataract surgery. Most of them are poor widows, who are neglected by their family members. We admit them to a nearby eye hospital and they undergo cataract surgery. Special care is given for 2 days as they stay in the hospital and then are discharged on the second day. Additional follow-up medical care is given in our free medical clinic to patients who have undergone surgery. Concentrated prayer is offered to them and the Good News about Jesus is shared with them.
Some monitory assistance is given to those who do not have their own earnings. What a joy it is to see their beautiful smiling faces because they can see the world again with their own eyes and be independent as they do their work without assistance.
OUR NEEDS:
● Free medicines for the patients who attend the camp.
● The Hospital expense for cataract surgery is $850 per patient.
We need sponsors who will sponsor one patient’s medical bill.
● Spectacles for patients with defective vision.
● Vitamins for children and pregnant women.
